If you're building a mobile repair setup from a truck bed, a trailer, or the back of a minivan, this list is for you. It's designed for one-person operations, small shops, and contractors who work out of a vehicle instead of a fixed shop.
I've been setting up service trucks and tool kits since 2017. I've personally made and documented at least 14 significant mistakes, totaling roughly $3,000 in wasted budget. It took me four years and about $3,000 in mistakes to understand that system reliability matters more than peak capability. Now I maintain our team's checklist so the next person doesn't repeat them.
There are seven steps. Each one has a real checkpoint. If you follow them in order, you'll have a Milwaukee-based mobile kit that works on the first job.

I cleared a code once without fixing the underlying problem. The check engine light came back 23 miles later. Not a good look.
